Technicians blamed for drilling nearby gas pipe

Fire has razed dozens of residential houses at Buguruni kwa Mnyamani in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, following technicians from the city water authority drilling a gas pipe. Reports confirmed by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation say the technicians had confused the gas pipe with a faulty water pipe. Efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings are in progress. Tanzania has just joined the global gas economy after several deposits were discovered in its southern regions in recent years.
